Located in Sarasota, Florida, AMB Structural CAD was formed to help structural design companies produce quality work at a reduced cost, especially in today’s highly competitive economy. We provide outsourced drafting, Revit® Modeling, and CAD consulting and support services specializing in structural design.
Anamaria Brown is the owner and Principal of AMB Structural CAD. She holds a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the Institutul Politehnic in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, with 13 years of engineering experience in her native country. She has more than 30 years experience in CAD drafting, detailing, training and management and more than 8 years in REVIT® Structure modeling.
A Hungarian from Transylvania in communist Romania, Anamaria escaped with her family in 1985, and soon after began work as a drafter with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in Chicago. During her six years at Skidmore she quickly advanced to collaborate on the development of SOM’s AES® soft- ware, coordinate CAD training for the structural engineering department, and assignment to complex projects.
Between 1992 and 1997, she led the CAD teams at Epstein for the expansion of McCormick Place and Midway Airport, and developed standard software configurations and file management systems. She drew on her engineering background to build and analyze composite floor systems in RAM Steel®, calculated gravity load takedowns, and coordinated structural and architectural drawings.
Anamaria joined Thornton-Tomasetti in 1997 where she led the CAD team as coordinator and trainer. She developed company-wide typical details, prepared presentation and marketing materials in both 2D and 3D, as well as setting up, drafting, and detailing numerous projects of all sizes. She became the structural representative of the National CAD Standards Committee, and led efforts to integrate National CAD Standards at the local office and corporate levels.
Moving to Sarasota in 2005, Anamaria became the Senior CAD Designer at Jenkins & Charland (now a part of TRC Worldwide Engineering). While there she developed Revit® Standards and procedures, and modeled several Revit®-based projects in the area as well as consulting on Revit® for RESTL Designers in Washington, DC. Other projects included the Duke Energy Center and Wells Fargo Cultural Campus in Charlotte, NC, and Pinnacle Symphony Place in Nashville, TN.
In 2010 Anamaria left TRC to start AMB Structural CAD, a full-service Revit ® Structure and AutoCAD® firm that provides out-sourced modeling, drafting, and consulting targeted to small and mid-sized structural engineering companies.
